Daughter: When I stayed home with my girlies, my attire was anything but fashionable (as my youngest would say). There was no need to stay up on the current trends because the majority of my time was spent wiping noses, butts and anything else that needed cleaned! What a glamorous life it was…sigh. It was always a treat to have a date night or even go to church, really any occasion that would call me to pull something out of my closet that had not seen the light of day in a few months. Now, I’m not saying that I was even remotely up to date with the current trends but hey, it’s always nice to break out of the yoga pants and t-shirts.
I’ve been working outside the home for almost a year now! Since my job requires me to wear professional attire, I no longer get excited to “dress up” for occasions outside of work. Actually, it’s just the opposite now, for date night or other occasions, I try to be as comfortable as possible. I know it’s easy to get into ruts when dressing for work. It’s like I get tunnel vision and only see a few select pieces in my closet. It always blows my mind when I discover items that I have forgotten about. Plus, I love to see what others wear to work. It gives me inspiration when I see someone wear something that I never thought would go together but yet it looks so great! I’m going to show you a few things I have worn to work in the past week.
Sorry about the quality of this picture. My youngest is out town this week and she took the “good” camera, lol. So, my middle one filled in for her with another camera. This picture does not do justice to this outfit, my middle one even agrees. This is a basic black dress pant, black short sleeve crew neck top with a sheer INC kimono over top. I paired it with my Bandolino black wedges. This is actually a very comfortable outfit!
Next is a top from JM Collection and a basic pair of black capris with black wedges from Chaps. It’s hard to see in the picture but right below the neck line there are sparkles around the black shapes. I get lots of comments on this top everywhere I go!
Now this in one of my favorite dresses!! It is by Roamans. It is so versatile and comfy to boot! Here I have it paired with a simple black wedge.
Here I gave it a splash of color with red flats and a black cardigan.
Then here, I paired it with a red shrug and black/silver flats.
I tend to stick with basic pieces and then find other pieces to give them some “ummff”. One of the greatest things about style is you can have many different forms of it! There’s no need to stick with just one, have a little fun, step out of your box and try something new!
