Daughter: Since 2011 when Gnome and Juliet came out in theaters, I’ve been obsessed with gnomes! I’ve been saying for years that I want a gnome garden, but it’s never seemed to work out. Well…this spring I was determined to get it done! For Mother’s Day my girls got me ceramic gnomes that we could paint all together to go in the garden. Plus, I had already bought some Terracotta pots for us to paint into gnome homes. My youngest is very creative so she agreed to design the garden herself.
Of course is doesn’t start out very pretty. The picture above is very mild considering this is before all the rain moved in. I seriously think it rained for two weeks straight. And of course the April Showers did not bring May flowers because it didn’t decide to rain till May, so we are technically a month behind! I had to majorly weed out this area three different times due to the rain, but I knew once I got the mulch down it would be much easier to maintain. So after all the weeds came out, the mulch went in!
It always amazes me what a difference mulch can make! Somehow it just makes everything look so much better! I love dealing with mulch! Yes, it can be messy but the results are simply beautiful!
Next Miss K works her magic of placing the houses and the gnomes in their own story lines! This is what I cherish the most….listening to the “why” they go where they go. The stories she comes up with are simply amazing to me! After all, she is the baby of the family!
I’m very happy that she centered the whole village around the Calla lilly that she gave me for Mother’s Day a few years ago! According to her, it is the village Christmas tree, Easter tree, Halloween tree and Thanksgiving tree. In a nutshell, every celebration revolves around this tree!
Here’s a close look at our wonderful gnomes! It’s a treat to me to see what position they’ll be in the next day. Just like in the Toy Story, I like to believe they move around when no one is paying attention! lol
