Mother: I am going to talk mascara today. Back when daughter was in college she worked at the Lancome cosmetic counter at one of our larger department stores. She was always bringing home samples of stuff and I loved it. When they would redo the color palettes for blush or eye shadow she would come home with these. Whole sheets of eye shadows that had never been touched. The small samples of lipstick, eye liner, mascara almost anything that was given out as a sample, got tossed at the end of the season. I have to say one of two things had to have changed, either they didn’t give samples out very freely back then or they had thousands of them, because now you only get samples every once in awhile and they always seem to run out in a short time.
But, back to mascara. I have always had problems with mascara and only used basic, no waterproof, no fillers, nothing, because it took very little for my eyes to get irritated. I would get blisters on the rim of my eye or it would feel like I had an eyelash in my eye, until I started using Lancome Definicils. Loved this mascara and it caused me no problems.
Fast forward to about two years ago and I decided maybe it was time to try something new. I started using Lancome Hypnose, all was good. Then I tried Hypnose Drama, still good as far as eye irritation. But, what I started noticing was I could never seem to get it all off at night I used Lancome Bi-Facil to take off my eye makeup and it did a pretty good job, though I was still getting up with some black under my eyes in the morning.
At Christmas I bought Lancome Hypnose Star, two actually, and one Definicils. Long story as to why so much mascara, just know it had to do with gift with purchase. lol
I loved the way my lashes looked with the Hypnose Star but started noticing that the skin around the lashes was getting sore. It took awhile for me to realize it was sore from all of the rubbing I was doing to get my mascara off. I was almost completely through my second tube of Hypnose Star before I realized the problem. lol Talk about slow. lol So I switched back to Definicils. Boy o boy did the look of my lashes change, it was like my eyes had shrunk. lol It came off with little effort but I wasn’t so sure about the look. I had gotten used to the full lash look and Definicils didn’t quite give me that.
So last week I started my search for a new mascara. At this point I am using Covergirl lashblast. I like it well enough and not having problems with eye irritation or getting it off, but it does tend to clump. But, since I tend to buy things in two’s I have Covergirl clump crusher in the wings just waiting to be tried. lol I went with over the counter mascara’s for no other reason then money. Time will tell how this all works out.
What mascara do you like? Are you an over the counter or cosmetic counter buyer?
