Mother: Daughter and I were laughing last week when she was writing the post about the Aveeno. I told her that I had reached into my cabinet and what did I find? A bottle of the Positively Ageless face cream. Her reply was ” of course you did.” lol
Hardly anything ever runs out at my house because I stock well before the bottom of any box, jar, tube, carton, package, etc. could ever become empty. It matters not if it is food, clothing, cleaning products, everything kept at my house is multiple. As I always say ” if one is good, two is even better!!” And if you can get it in bulk way, way better!!! lol
We discussed the fact that we are sure it comes from my childhood. She doesn’t have the “hoarder” mentality like I do, she was raised in a home where there was no lack. I, on the other hand, was raised by a single mother with a gaggle of kids, and lack was an every day occurrence.
Food is a biggie with me. There is never a time that you couldn’t open my freezer and cabinets and make a complete meal, or twenty. lol I throw away more fresh produce than some people consume. If a recipe calls for two avocados, I buy three because you just never know. I have to make a conscience decision to cook out of my freezer. I have two refrigerator freezers and one chest, so I have to make the rounds checking what is in each so I don’t end up wasting. Of course no home is complete without a quart of crushed garlic!!! lol
What brought this to my attention was plastic wrap. I have a drawer where I keep a box of sandwich size Ziplocs, a roll of plastic wrap and a roll of foil. I remember back at Christmas thinking that the roll of plastic was getting close to the end. I apparently I had the thought more than once, because on Monday when the roll did run out I went to the pantry and there were three new rolls. I think I must have bought the one at Christmas because it is red
I had seen on someones’ blog about hanging a shoe holder on the inside of the pantry door to help with storage. Well I did that. As you can see from the picture I have my other two rolls of plastic, a couple of boxes of crockpot bags, some parchment paper, and duplicates of a number of other things. lol
Now that I am retired I am trying hard not to stock pile stuff. It is crazy because there are a couple of things I can manage to run out of, canned beans, green and other types, and canned tomatoes. Why those things I can forget to pick up I don’t know. Of course when I do get them I always do it in multiples, and the next thing you know I will have six cans of each. lol
Another funny thing about all of this is we have four vacuum cleaners, two toasters, three shop vacs, at least three rechargeable screw drivers, two steam cleaners, etc, etc. lol You get the idea. lol
