Daughter: Everyone loves karaoke!! And if ya don’t it’s because you’ve never tried it! What makes it the “funniest” (yes, I know that’s not a word, lol) is when you’re with the right people. It’s best when your surrounded by friends that are open, easy-going and don’t care what others think. I inherited my singing voice from my mother’s side of the family. In short, I couldn’t carry a tune even in a bucket, lol. But I do not let that stop me! I sing loud and proud even when I’m not sure of the correct words….just ask my girlies!
In honor of National Karaoke Week, I wanted to share some of my favorite karaoke vidoes! I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
And I saved the BEST for last!!!
Mother: To say that I can’t carry a tune is an understatement!. lol As daughter says it is a family thing and the sad part is we all like to sing. We sing in church, we sing in the car, any time there is a song playing that we halfway know the words to we sing, and we do it loudly.
My first experience with Karaoke was 30 or so years ago. I went to a new place in town with a group from my work. At that time anyone who got up an sang got a recording of themselves. There were 15/16 of us and we did “Taking Care of Business”. I am sure BTO would have been appalled by our rendition. We were so bad you could pick each of our voices out on the recording.
I have had some really great times while karaoking. A few years ago I was with a couple of girl friends in Aruba and the bar in our hotel had karaoke. The funny thing was the DJ had three mic’s and if only one or two people were singing he would give the other mic(s) to someone not performing. Well he made the mistake of giving me one of the mics. He let me keep it till he realized I was going to sing along with everyone!! I protested when he came to take it away saying everyone needs a backup singer. No one seemed real impressed with my vocals and the next night mics were only given to those willing to stand in front of the room and sing, and no one wanted back up. lol
If I would ever have the nerve to sing alone it would have to be Patsy Cline.
Some Walkin’ After Midnight
You can’t beat those old country songs.
What are your favorite karaoke songs??
