Mother:Since I have retired I have started doing some exercise classes. I know back in the day when I jogged the girls had a tendency to hit me in the chin, and nothing has changed with the years. The first week or so of classes I wore my regular bras thinking they would do, not so much. Cycling is my exercise of choice. My girls had such motion going on during class I thought they were going to throw me off of my bike. Every time I looked down it looked like a high tide of flesh was washing in towards my face.
What do I always do when I have a situation, I throw money at it. Online I went to find some, as Bette Midler said in ” Beaches”, over the shoulder boulder holders”. As luck would have it my favorite store had a sale, plus I had a coupon. I didn’t know till then that sports bras, which are what they are called now, come in different levels of impact. You have your low, your medium and high. High impact it was, of course I couldn’t just go with high, I threw in a medium impact also just because it looked nicer. The high impact came in actual sizes, the medium impact was in s, m, l, xl, I went with xl.
I was pretty excited when the new bras came, but it was a good thing I decided to try them on before I was heading to a class. I thought I was going to have to grease myself to get them on. The sized one did have hooks in the back which was nice, but who was going to hook it for me once I had it on? So I hooked it and put it on over my head. I wasn’t sure I was ever going to get that sucker to where it needed to be. I pushed, I pulled, I unrolled, it kept rolling up on itself, and I tugged. By the time I had the thing in place I had done a full body workout. As I stood sweating and panting in front of the mirror all I could see was breast and more breast. The construction of the bra made my breast look like they were sitting on a balcony. Now truth be told they won’t be going side to side, there were stays in the sides, but bouncing was not going to be stopped.
The xl bra was a little easier to get on, though it did take longer than I thought it should. These things have no give, and again it was rolling and it had hooks in the back so I had to hook it and put it on over my head. It doesn’t have the most support in the world but at least my girls are not up under my chin, they are plastered to my chest.
Daughter and I were talking one day about the problem we have with our sports bras and the granddaughters told us we needed to wear a regular bra under our sports bra. It is amazing how much difference this makes. Yes, the girls are kind of squished together, but I can smooth them out, and it makes a world of difference in comfort.
The search continues for a sports bra that goes on with ease, holds my girls where they need to be and comes off with ease and no wearing of an extra bra, but till then doubling up is where I am at. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Till next time.
