Mother: I love shoes. I think there are many reasons why I love shoes and why at any given time in any shoe store I can always find at least one pair I want to take home with me. My family didn’t have much money when I was a kid and shoes were bought to serve a purpose. When we were in grade school we each, usually, had two pair of shoes, wear to school and wear to church. We played in our school shoes all summer, or went barefoot, then in Sept. we got new school shoes. When we got out of grade school and moved on in school we had gym shoes. Back in the day when you went into junior high school, we had gym class. This meant we needed a pair of gym shoes and a uniform for gym class. Let’s not get into the gym uniform because let me tell you they were not pretty. lol The shoes stayed in your gym locker till the end of the school year when they went home to be worn during the summer.
Another reason I love shoes is, they don’t care what size I am. It matters not how thick my waist is, how broad my hips are or what the scales say, I can always find shoes to fit. When I have a special event to attend my shoes are the first thing I pick, they are the easy part. There are two things I have to be careful with though when buying shoes, the top can’t come up too high on my foot, I have funky calves, and the heel height can’t be too high. The last one, heel height, is where I usually get into trouble. I know I can safely wear 2 inch heels or less, but I continue to look at 2 1/2 inch and up. Some who have read the blog for awhile know that I fell off of a pair of 2 1/2 inch shoes and broke my foot. Seven weeks of non weight bearing was a little too much for a great pair of shoes, though since I was in a wheelchair for a number of events I did get to wear the right shoe a number of times. lol This is a picture of my foot breaking shoes, very cute.
Right now I am into my flip flops. I actually thought back in Jan. when we were on a cruise that I was going to have to give my flip flops up, I had taken two pairs with me and my feet hurt so bad every time I put them on, I thought wearing them was over. But about two months ago a company that sells flip flops popped up on my Facebook feed. I usually just hide these types of ads but for some reason I clicked on the ad and went to their website. I guess part of what drew me to the website was the fact that the flip flops are made in America, New York to be precise, and they hire veterans. These are two pluses for me. Once I read the companies story I wanted to give the shoes a try. They are $25 a pair, but they have sales also. The hard part for me was picking which colors I wanted. I decided I was going to buy two pairs, if it turned out I didn’t like them for whatever reason, I would have only wasted $50. I know, I know $50 is nothing to just throw away but I am one of those people that will swallow an elephant and gag on a gnat when it comes to spending my money. My spending habits deserve a post of their own though. lol I picked a pair of pale pink and a green pair. The website said the bottoms were made from a “formulation of 100% polyurethane” that is used to make performance sport shoes and “ensures long-lasting cushion, rebound, bounce and durability”. This all sounded good to me but I would be the judge.
I have to say I am very happy with these flip flops. I have been wearing the first two pairs everyday for a good month and neither pair have worn down in the heel like most of mine have in the past. Yes, the design on the foot bed has worn away in some places but you don’t notice that unless you take the shoes off. They run true to size, they are comfortable and they are cute. So, I ordered two more pair, they were having a sale, I got a pair of light grey and a pair of black. For right now these are my go to shoe, aka flip flops. lol The company is http://www.tidalnewyork.com/, and if you want a cute, comfortable pair of flip flops you might want to give these a try.
This is not a sponsored post, this is just me finding a product that I am very happy with and wanting to share with others.
Till next time.
