Daughter: With today being Valentine’s Day, Happy Valentine’s Day to you all, I thought it’d be the perfect time to try out two color stay lip color products. Because, you know, there will be lots of lip-locking going on today and it’s not nice for us to “share” our lip color all over our partner’s face! Now I totally love the concept of “color stay”, who doesn’t love the idea of putting a color on and not having to think about it again throughout the day. I’m not one to even think about reapplying lip color during the day so for me a color stay product is perfect. Today I’m going to review two higher-end products and next week I will review two, what I call, drug store products.
The first one I tried out is LipSense. And no, we are not receiving any incentives from any of the companies reviewed.
Now, if you haven’t heard of LipSense you must be living under a rock, lol. It’s one of the latest hottest direct sale companies making its rounds. Actually, it’s a part of the SeneGence line that offers a full line of skin products. I had no idea they had a full line until I attended a party, the only product that I have seen advertised by them is the LipSense. The pricing for LipSense is $55 for a starter kit that includes one color, one Glossy Gloss, and one Oops color remover. They do have a large variety of colors and glosses. They claim that the glosses can totally change and enhance the lip colors. There are glosses to brighten the colors and glosses to tone down the color. You can add glitter or give it a matte finish. The variety is awesome and there is something for everyone!
I followed all the directions. I treated my lips to a lip scrub before doing my make up that morning. Before walking out the door at 7:55 am I applied my three thin coats of Sheer Berry Diamond. Now I must say, the color does give a burning sensation when applying. And you have to kind of spread your lips out so they are long, flat and smooth while applying the color. You have to wait a few seconds between coats so it can dry but that happens very quickly. Then after the third coat dries, you apply the gloss. I do love the Glossy Gloss. At this point, I was very happy with the product.
Around noon, I decided it was time to check on it. I had consumed three cups of coffee, 4-6 cups of water and ate lunch. We were quite busy that day, so there was no time to check on it before this. And this is what I saw:
Most of the color had worn off except for around the edges of my lips. Plus, my lips felt gritty and dry, so I was not surprised this was how it looked. Then around 3 pm, they looked like this.
Almost non-existent. At this point, I took a paper towel and wiped the remnants off and just reapplied the color than the gloss and it looked as good as it had earlier that morning. Overall I do like the appearance of the LipSense but it does not last all day. But it is good for 3-4 hours and I think I’m okay with that, so I give it a thumbs up!
The second one I tried is Vial from Perfectly Posh. This is also a direct sales company that has all natural skin products. Their color stay lip color is fairly new to their line. The price point here is $49 for a Tri-Tin which includes one lip primer, then your choice of two lip colors or one lip color and a top coat.
Now, I did have issues with this one so I contacted my wonderful consultant for advice. She instructed me to first apply the lip primer then wait 15 minutes to make sure it was good and dry. Then I was to apply the lip color which is Stop Bushing. I did not purchase the top coat since it was not a necessity, plus, I wanted to try a matte finish.
Again, we were busy that day as well so there was no time to stop and check on it till after lunch. And this is how it looked:
The color was still intact just not as vibrant. The color was still on all of my lips and not just the edges of the other brand. Even though I waited another 15 minutes after applying the color so it could dry, I still had the lip color all over my coffee tumbler. This I was not happy about, it just looks messy and shows me it’s not a true “color stay” product. Which in turn makes the price point way to high.
Here’s what my lips looked like later in the afternoon… just a hint of color. I just could not get this one to stay in place on my lips and not show up all over my cups or tumblers. So for me, this one gets s thumbs down.
If you’ve tried either of this products, we’d love to hear how you felt about them! Different products work for different people and we embrace that!! Happy Valentine’s Day to you all and we hope you have a super lovey-dovey day!!
Until next time…..
