Mother: What would you do with your life if you stepped out of your comfort zone? Suzanne over at Crazy Blonde Life had a quote on her blog from an anonymous writer, “There is no statute of limitations on starting over. Re-invent yourself every day. Be the girl who walks barefoot and listens to the blues. Tomorrow, wear a trench coat and speak fierce truths. Be a phoenix. Be ashes. Burn down. Resurrect. Let go of the idea that you must always be who you have always been.” For some reason, this resonated with me.
Have you ever given thought to what you would do or who you would be if you stepped away from comfort? Personally, I am a comfort zone kind of girl. Spontaneity isn’t even in my vocabulary. But I don’t think God put us on this earth to live a low key life. He gave every one of us abilities so that we could shine and it does Him a disservice when we don’t.
There were times I stepped out of my comfort zone, but they were few and far between. Think about how good it feels to do something out of the norm. Like I said in a previous post-New Years resolutions are not something I do, but I do want to step up to new experiences and new things more this year. Of course, I will be taking baby steps.
We are in Florida for the winter, but one thing I want to do when we get back in March is get rid of stuff. You might not think that cleaning out is stepping out of my comfort zone but in my case it is. I bought the Kon Mari book five years ago, and I will read it at some point. The Kon Mari thoughts are you only keep things that bring you happiness, but I have to say a lot of my stuff does bring me happiness. The problem with this happiness is it also causes clutter and my clutter needs if nothing else organized
Another area of my life I would like to step out in is my social life. Now having said that I am not sure what I mean. Husband and I have a tendency to shelter in our house in the winter and spring so come spring I would like to venture out. We are very family oriented, and since we have a large family, it is easy for us to let our friends fall to the bottom of our priority list. This spring I would like to have at least one social activity a month. Time will tell how this works out.
Maybe neither of the things I have picked are anything that reinvents me, but they do take me out of my comfort zone. Do you have areas in life where you would like to reinvent yourself? I am a work in progress but I am going to try and make 2018 a little less predictable.
